Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Quarterly, Buff and Azure (Light Blue) between four gunstones crosswise, a sword point to base Sable and a key ward to base saltirewise Or, an escutcheon of the third fimbriated and charged with an eagle's head erased Or with eye garnished of the third. Attached below the shield a black scroll inscribed "PROVIDE TO PROTECT" in Gold.

Symbolism
Buff and light blue are the colors traditionally associated with the Quartermaster Corps. Gold is emblematic of excellence and high achievement. Black alludes to petroleum, the major logistics support mission of the organization. The four black shapes, located on the four major geographical directions, represent units of supply inventory and highlight the distribution of petroleum wherever needed by our soldiers. The eagle, symbol of our nation, is adapted from the Quartermaster branch insignia. The shield represents defense and protection, which gives emphasis to the unit's motto. The sword and key from the Quartermaster branch insignia reflect military preparedness and professional logistics support and control.

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 19 March 2002.
